Scratchwell Angle Board — Dog Nail File with Treat Drawer

Specifications

An angled board with a treat drawer. No clippers, no grinder, no holding down a paw they're trying to pull back.

How it works

Three steps. Your dog does two of them.

1 · Load the drawer.
Slide it open, drop in something they'd cross a room for. Close it.

2 · Set it down and step back.
Don't hold their paw. Don't guide them. Let them work out that scratching is what opens the drawer.

3 · Open it and let them have it.
Two or three short sessions a week is plenty. The nails come down on their own.

Why ours is angled

Flat boards miss the front nails.

A dog doesn't paw straight down. They paw forward and down — the same motion they use on a door they want opened.

On a flat board lying on the floor, the paw skims across the top and barely touches the nail. On an incline, it lands with pressure. Three things change:

  • They learn it faster. You're working with an instinct instead of teaching a trick.
  • Front nails actually file. Contact instead of a skim.
  • It stays put. No sliding across the kitchen mid-scratch.

The easel folds flat for storage and adjusts for a Yorkie or a Lab. Board is 35 × 25 cm (13.8" × 9.8"), solid wood, replaceable abrasive surface.

You already know these

Nail day has a script.

The Paw Tuck

You get one nail done. She folds the other three underneath her and looks away, and you're negotiating with a forty-pound loaf.

The Two-Person Job

Someone holds. Someone clips. Nobody enjoys it, and the dog now leaves the room whenever both of you walk in together.

The Groomer Tax

$25 every three weeks. Just for nails. That's about $430 a year to pay someone else to have the same fight you were having.

Scratchwell is $49.99 once. It pays for itself in about six weeks.

60-day guarantee: if your dog won't use it, you don't pay for it.

Use it for sixty days. If your dog never takes to it, or it isn't what you expected, email us and we'll refund you in full.

Before we do, we'll send our training notes and try to help you get there — usually it's a treat-value problem, not a dog problem. But if you'd rather just have your money back, say so and it's done. No hoops.

You keep the board. Shipping it back would cost more than it's worth.

Questions

The honest answers

What about the back nails?

Most dogs won't file their back paws on it. That's the truth, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something. Back nails wear down naturally from walking; front nails are the ones that overgrow, catch on carpet, and click on the hardwood — and the ones your dog fights you hardest on. So the board handles the part that causes trouble, but it isn't a complete replacement for a trim, and we won't pretend it is.

What if my dog just ignores it?

Nine times out of ten the treat isn't good enough or the session is too long. Kibble won't do it — use something they'd steal off the counter, and keep it under two minutes. If it still doesn't click after a couple of weeks, email us. We'll walk you through it, and if it's still not happening, we refund you.

Can it hurt my dog's nails?

There's no blade, so there's no quick to cut into. But the surface removes nail with every pass, so don't let them go at it for twenty minutes. Short sessions, a few times a week. If your dog's nails are badly overgrown, or you ever see bleeding, stop and see your groomer or vet.

How long does the sandpaper last?

It depends entirely on your dog — a 70 lb Lab twice a week wears a sheet down much faster than a Shih Tzu once a week. You'll know it's time when the nails stop coming down the way they used to. Sheets peel off and press on in about ten seconds.

How fast does it ship?

It leaves our manufacturing partner in 1–3 business days and typically arrives in 7–14 business days. That's slower than Amazon and we won't hide it. Shipping direct from the factory is how this board costs $49.99 here instead of the $60–$65 the branded versions charge — there's no warehouse markup in the middle. Tracking often shows no scan for the first few days; that's normal.

Scratchwell is a grooming tool. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Always supervise your dog while using it.
